Lisa has set her sights on running as a Republican delegate for Tennessee. When not actively assisting others, she enjoys being a decorated long-distance runner, novelist, writer, and self-taught marine biologist who studies shark behavior and its interactions with humans in natural aquatic settings.

Academic Background

Lisa boasts an extensive and illustrious educational background. As one of the pioneering female Editors-in-Chief of college newspapers, she made her mark in the field. Lisa was a hard news reporter and Editor at Middle Tennessee State University. She was the inaugural Producer and Newswriter for MTSU's first broadcast news station, Channel 22, Newview. In 1984, she received an excellence award in journalism and a scholarship specifically to recognize female Editors.

Lisa graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee, acquiring a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications. In 1996, she furthered her education and earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law while working as a Copy Editor at UT's Daily Beacon. Lisa interned at the Law Offices of James A. H. Bell during her law school years, solidifying her legal knowledge and writing skills.

Lisa Flowers Gary capitalized on her strong writing capabilities and expertise, becoming an effective legal advocate during her tenure at the Law Offices of James A. H. Bell and later in private practice. Throughout her career, she honed her skills. She gained invaluable experience in various legal areas, including jury and bench trials, defense work, pro bono representation for veterans, appellate work, negotiation, mediation and arbitration, legal research and writing, and oral arguments. Her clientele encompassed diverse cases such as Social Security Disability, Medical Malpractice, Sexual Harassment, Whistleblower cases, Workers' Compensation, Veterans Law, and corporate clients like General Motors and Impact Financial Services. While presently engaged as a GOP political activist, writer, and novelist, Lisa's legal acumen remains an asset.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Lisa has always profoundly appreciated history and vintage architecture. This interest led her to purchase a historic home in 2013, which she diligently restored to its original condition. Her efforts were recognized with a Historic Preservation Award in 2015. Despite facing an unexpected flood, Lisa undertook another restoration project to preserve the house's historical significance. She takes great pride in being the custodian of a centennial home that will mark its 100th anniversary in 2024, adorning it with period furniture and cherished heirlooms. Additionally, Lisa enjoys collecting and wearing vintage clothing, actively contributing to preserving history.

Lisa's commitment to helping others extends to her involvement with animal shelters, which began at 14. While representing pro bono veterans returning from the war in Afghanistan, she collaborated with the national organization Pets for Patriots, successfully pairing her clients with shelter pets. Furthermore, Lisa spearheaded a hippotherapy program with a horse therapist, aiding veterans to overcome post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Having obtained a special license administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C., Lisa witnessed firsthand the Afghanistan conflict's impact on veterans. Consequently, she volunteered in animal shelters and hippotherapy programs, assisting those seeking to reintegrate into everyday life.
